In 2018, Ludwigshafen am Rhein was named the „ugliest city in Germany“. To counter this, curator Julia Katharina Thiemann decided to launch the PROUD magazine. It not only shows the rich culture of the city through various artists: inside on always 48 pages, but also design.

Since 2019, the city‘s cultural office has been publishing PROUD Magazine, which presents cultural practitioners from Ludwigshafen. In this way, an ongoing archive of contemporary art and culture in Ludwigshafen is to be created. In addition to its classic journalistic function, the series is also explicitly a sign of appreciation for local artists. PROUD magazine is published four times a year.
